Artist's Comments

Tagiades gana gana is one of the commonest representatives of this genus in Singapore. The wings above are dark brown with darker spots along the discal area of the wings. The tornal area of the hindwings are whitened and has diffuse black spots along the edge.

All the Tagiades species are sun-loving butterflies and fly so rapidly that only the whitened area of the hindwings are seen, giving the illusion of a smaller white butterfly in flight. This photograph shows the characteristic flat open-winged posture which is usual amongst the Tagiades species.

Scientific Name: Tagiades gana gana (Large Snow Flat)

Macritchie Butteflies Dec III by ~log1t3ch When I first saw this shot, it really captured my eye, such a unique viewpoint on a Butterfly that it really does manage to grab the viewers attention, and one can not help but notice the amount of remarkable detail along with the incredible focus and depth in this photograph. Only a mere 7 fav's, and no comments before the DD, it is images like this one which I love to find here on DA! (Featured by ^kkart)

I have to comment and fave this a thousand times over. This is so phenomenal. The angle is highly unique, and I love how it makes the butterflies wings blur slightly while the body is so crisp. The soft green of the background makes the silvery white and black stand out so well. Congrats on your DD, you deserve it!
